Here are 5 quotes from Dr. King:
"True
compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not
haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which
produces beggars needs restructuring."
"The
unemployed, poverty-stricken white man must be made to realize that he
is in the very same boat with the Negro. Together, they could exert
massive pressure on the government to get jobs for all. Together they
could form a grand alliance. Together, they could merge all people for
the good of all."
"When
machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are
considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism,
materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered."
"Congress
appropriates military funds with alacrity and generosity. It
appropriates poverty funds with miserliness and grudging reluctance. The
government is emotionally committed to the war. It is emotionally
hostile to the needs of the poor."
"A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth."
So I had a dream the other night that my friends and I were going to hang out with Benedict Cumberbatch. To my surprise, he wanted to stay in the flat (not sure if it was 221B Baker St.), have tea, and watch Twilight. (Twilight?! Honestly.) But I would watch that horrid movie if it meant spending time with Sherlock's alter ego.
